Easter 2013

So many stories to tell about Easter this year.  We did a lot of the same traditions that we did last year, including making a tomb and burring Jesus in it on Good Friday.

Henry was distraught; he wanted to hold a cross (to do his usual processions) and we told him that Jesus was gone, that he was buried in the tomb.  Henry examined the tomb for a little while and then said he wanted to die too, on a cross.  I couldn't help but smile, my sweet little Henry doesn't want to live in a world where he can't process around with crosses.

Margaret Mary ran around outside and picked flowers to decorate Jesus's tomb with.

On Holy Saturday, we waited. I cooked a lot. For Easter morning I made homemade peeps in different colors and Jason made a chocolate bunny.

Easter morning was packed.  We had an Easter party at 11, so we went to the 8:30 Mass, which means we had to BOOK IT to get out of the house in time.  We ate bacon and paska cheese for breakfast and the kids marveled at the empty tomb, the flowers we had decorated the altar with, and their homemade treats.

At Mass,  I was outside with Bubba most of the time.  He is such a happy baby when he's outside.

After Mass, the priest gave out some Holy Water bottles, and I think this was the BEST part of Henry's Easter.  He walked around slinging  his holy water ( like the priest does at Mass) and genuflecting.

Margaret Mary gawked at all the beautiful flowers that seemed to pop up overnight and everyone was so joyful.  He is risen! Just as he said! Happy Easter!!

After Mass, we went to our friend's house.  There was great conversation, lots of kids and families, candy, Easter egg hunts, skeet shoots and beer.

After this party, we went to another one. Then we came home, crashed and then woke up sick the next day.  There is a good old catholic saying that says that unless you are sick or overtired Easter Monday, then you didn't celebrate Holy Week right. :)

Happy Easter!
