First let me say, MM has been looking forward to being five for a long time. My little girl was so excited for her birthday to come and we had a great day celebrating and thanking God for our little girl. For her birthday she said she wanted to go "hunting for gold." I wondered how she had heard about going mining for gold, but went ahead and searched for gold mining places close by. Upon further investigation, I realized that she knew nothing about the process of mining for gold, she simply wanted to go "hunting for gold" outside because apparently gold is everywhere, and you just have to go looking for it. I thought this was too precious. My parents came down and we went to a gold mine and everyone had a great time. The kids loved running their pans through the water and finding their jewels. There was also a great river there and the kids threw rocks and wadded.
For her birthday cake, she specifically wanted a cheesecake made by one of our friends, (and milk maid,) Mya. So our milk maid friends came (and one of them made her a sweet wreath of flowers to wear on her head), and our neighbors came (MM thinks that Samuel is so fun!) and we sang and ate cake.
Our Margaret Mary at 5 is free spirited, inventive, creative, confident, independent, caring, silly, innocent and full of life. She delights us, inspires us and brings us much joy. We begin home school in August and I am so excited to learn and study with her.
