my little-est love

Such beauty in a baby's face.

Sweet innocence.

Margaret Mary has been asking me to sing her baby song lately. I often sing it to her when bouncing Peter, so its kinda becoming Peter's baby song as well.

"..The world will try to tell you that might is more than right.
That beauty is on the outside and being good is a losing fight.
But remember what I told you, because the world will make you choose:
Hold to Jesus, he's holding on to you...

Hold on to Jesus, and cling to his love.
Rest deep in his mercy, whenever things get rough.
Don't lose sight of his goodness, and don't ever doubt this truth,
that when you hold on to Jesus, he's holding onto you..."

Here are my other two loves pretending to be babies...

A nice break from fighting over imaginary plane tickets. :)

Sending Off

Every day, Henry likes to help Jason get dressed, and in doing so, insists on wearing a belt and a tie, just like his Papa.

and of course, Papa can't leave without a big hug and kiss from Margaret Mary. He gets kisses from me too, but I don't have any photos of that. :)

My Henry

I love my son.

The older Henry gets, the more I realize he is just like me. Melancholic. Poor guy.  At least we will be able to sort through this personality together; o practice patience; to seek humility; to find confidence in our identity as children of God; to fix our eyes on heaven. To know that God will give us the grace to overcome our anxieties and frustrations.  The grace to get out of our own heads. To know that with God ...

"We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;  persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed...Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
2 Cor. 4:8-9, 16-18

Fight the good fight my son, it is worth it.

"... in communication with God, the melancholic finds a deep and indescribable peace."

Buh buh AND Buh buh

I may have mentioned before that Henry calls Peter "buh buh." When the two babies are together I have taken to calling them "buh buh and buh buh" (sung to the same melody as Colleen Nixon's "Body and Soul" song).

It's really hard to get pictures of these guys together cause Henry is all over the baby.  I have to have one hand on the camera, and the other on Peter to protect him from Henry's boyness. (This is also why I haven't attempted a pic of all three of them yet).

When Peter was born, everyone said he looked just like his big brother, but I don't see it at all. I think he looks just like Margaret Mary did as a little baby.  Even today, people make comments about how the two boys look alike.

Some moments are sweet, but I know that Henry can't wait for Peter to get bigger so they can wrestle. Margaret Mary isn't really up for Henry's tackle, crawl all over each other games. You can't leave Henry alone with the baby...too dangerous.

When Henry gets close to Peter, he talks to him in a really high pitched squeaky voice and flashes him a BIG SMILE.  He also likes to tell us every time the baby touches him. For example, if the baby touches him on the nose, he will come to us and point to his nose, say "buh buh" and smile real big before running back to his brother.

Henry likes to poke Peter in the eyeballs.

and do toddler tricks around him that make mama nervous...

Brother and Brother. "Buh buh and Buh Buh." Best friends forever.

Sweet Ambrose (aka Peter!)

Snapped this from my phone's camera on yesterday's walk.  Isn't he a chunk? We love him so much! I think he's about 14 pounds already! I have also been calling him Ambrose (his middle name). Why? I don't know, it just fits him and slips out a lot. I don't know why we have such problems settling on names...

Is that...

...spinach on my son's face?  Yes it is! (it is also him turning the light switch on and off, on and off, on and off...)

pumpkin??? Yep!

You should have seen him after beet pancakes, which were incredible (and super pink!)

quality time

I used to let MM watch an hour to an hour and a half of movie while I napped during Quiet Time. It was wonderful. I got a good rest in and she was contained and safe. But, after some prayer and thought, I realized this wasn't a good habit for us to form.  I cut movie time to thirty minutes.  That also means that my nap got cut to thirty minutes (or less if the baby is fussy or needs something).  While I miss my naps, I'm enjoying more quality one on one time with Margaret Mary.  We read, cook, play; today we swang (is that a word?). I love my little girl.
