The Swingset

A friend of a friend dropped off a little swing set the other day.  It isn't anything fancy, but its the PERFECT size for the kids; they can get on and off the swings by themselves.  Margaret Mary loves it especially.

She swings.

She does circus tricks.

She chills.

She sings.

And works up quite a thirst...

Life is good.

Sweet Henry

In celebration of Henry not having ONE potty accident today, I wanted to do a post all about him.  Henry, almost 2 and a half, loves to play with trains and will play with them for an hour, driving trains back and forth and hooking them together.

He is very contemplative and Jason and I will find him sitting and looking out a window or rocking back in forth on the front porch just "being" as we like to call it.  He moves at a slower pace. He's always the last one in the car, but it is because of this contemplative attitude; he examines everything deeply.

He loves his sister and cracks up at everything she does.  The other day Henry was playing Pope (see pic below) and MM was dancing and singing.  Henry just sat and watched her with a big smile on his face. I pray they always enjoy eachother's company.  Margaret Mary says she REALLY wants to marry Henry because she "loves him soooo much and he is so handsome."  We think Henry is pretty handsome too. He cuts us with his blue eyes.

Henry still loves playing priest and Mass.  He wears his chasubles all day long and likes to layer them so he has three on at once. (we think he does this cause Jason layers his shirts).  He loves to chant and spray Holy Water everywhere.  He recently has been asking me (or Jason) to be the Pope while he says Mass. :) I think the election of the new Pope Francis had a big impact on our little guy.  Here he is dressed up like a Pope:

Henry has been listening along while Margaret Mary and I do school each day.  He can recognize a few letters.  His speech is going well. He always cries and clings to me when its time to go back, (we go back with him), but after a few minutes of speech he is fine and having fun.  Some days we understand 90% of what he says, which is exciting.

Although Henry is very serious, he is also very goofy. He likes to jump on the bed with his sister, play hide and seek and dance.

Perhaps Henry's favorite thing (not as much as playing priest, nothing tops that), is his morning coffee.  Henry, wanting to be like his Papa, now drinks his morning milk in a little coffee cup.  Jason has gotten in the habit of giving him a tiny splash of coffee and now Henry won't drink it morning milk without it.  Sometimes he comes out of the bedroom demanding, "where's my coffee?"  We know how he feels!

The hardest thing for our little guy right now is sharing.  He gets so into his games, he doesn't want to share when other people come up to play.  We are working on it. :)

The last pic is Henry kissing his brother.  He loves him so much.  Its actually been sad to see Henry's feelings get hurt when Peter doesn't want his attention.  About half the time, Henry doesn't take a nap and so by the end of the day he is very rough.  We pray that Henry would learn to use his strength for good and would learn to be gentle when its appropriate.  But we have reasonable expectations...he IS a two year old BOY!

We love our Henry. Jason, when talking about how much  he loves his son, gets the sweetest look on his face.  Seeing your husband rejoice over the fruit of your womb is one of the greatest parts of being a Mom. A wife too.

Spring Flowers

Jason has always found it scandalous that little girls live in places where they have no flowers to pick, (or are not allowed to pick the flowers).  It's part of a little girls job: to roam through gardens, to pick this and that, to add it to a collection and bring it home for Mom to put in a vase.   Margaret Mary loves flowers and since the grass has started to grow, will pick anything and make a bouquet out of it.  The cover crop on our garden just flowered and MM spends lots of time each day out there picking flowers and putting them in her little box.

Loot at how sweetly she laid all her flowers in her box.

Some flowers go in vases but MM has other uses for her bouquets as well.  She plays "getting married," and also likes to throw them on the ground as in a procession at Mass.

We could watch her for hours pick flowers and are so thankful for the natural wildflowers (and the cover crops here) that provide such ample picking opportunities.  Jason is well pleased.

Bright Eyed and Bushy-tailed

This is Peter's pitiful " I need you mommy, hold me" face:  He literally tries to will himself to me.

We saw it a lot the past few weeks.  Our poor boys really struggled through this last sickness. But, they have emerged. Jason says its like they came out of a cocoon- bright eyed, happy, full of personality  boys.

Peter's face has changed A LOT.  I think its cause he lost a little bit of weight while he was sick and his face slimmed out.  What do you guys think? Sometimes I look at him and don't recognize him.

Jason goes weak for Peter's two-toothy grin.

We are so happy to have our boys back.  They seem stronger and happier. Praise the Lord.

I have sooooo many pics to edit and share with you.  I had my first photography gig the other day of a large family reunion.  It was hard and I learned alot.  I was okay with some of the pictures not coming out (I was doing this for free!) until they took a collection for me.  While it was exciting to get paid for the first time, it upped my stress because I didn't want them to be disappointing in paying me.  So, I spend a lot of time (with help from Tammy) editing out my photographer mistakes.  90% of them turned out well.  It's hard cause when I take pics of my kids and they don't turn out well, I delete them. But all that editing put me behind in my own editing.  More pics to come!

Our trip to Wilmington

This past weekend, we took a trip to Wilmington, NC to see Timothy (Jason's cousin) get married.  We stayed at a cute beach house, went to the Circus, and spent lots of good time with family.  The boys were still a little sick, and I worried about them being pushed too much on the trip, but it turned out fine.  Peter, tonight, has seemed to turn a corner and is almost over this horrible monster sickness. Praise the Lord!

I posted this pic on facebook, but here is Peter and I on the beach.  As you can see, he looks pretty misrable.

Me and my other little Man, who had a swollen eye at the time.

I also had the privladge of being able to take pics at the wedding. Such fun for a photographer.  Everything is so beautiful and the emotions so fresh!  I couldn't take that many cause sweet Peter was fussy and sick, but here are some of my favorites...

Congrats Timothy and Brittan! We love you guys!

For my side of the family (who doesn't use facebook), here are some pics Tammy took of our family.

On the way back from Wilmington we stopped in Chapel Hill for a moment and my mom suprised Peter with little birthday cupcakes!  As you can see, Peter didn't feel too up to celebrating, but I thought it was super sweet.

We arrived at our house safe and sound, and within minutes, Margaret Mary was naked outside running around in the tall grass.  As much as she loves the beach, she's definitely a country girl!

"Wike wu Papa! Wike wu!"

Henry has become the ultimate Papa's boy.  He wants to do everything like his Papa and will look up at him, give him a big smile and say, "Wike wu Papa! Wike wu!" (translation: "like you!).  He wants to dress like his Papa, carry things like him, work like him, eat like him...  It's pretty darn cute.

Happy 1st Birthday Peter!

Bubba still doesn't have his appetite back, but he loved sticking his finger in his cupcake!

Comparisons

Now that Peter has had his first buzz cut, everyone around here says he looks just like Henry. People even mistake them for eachother. I don't see it at all.  Here is my proof:

Peter (with eyes still a bit swollen):

Henry at the same age:

and for comparision, Margaret Mary at age one:

See?!?!?! Peter has his own little Craig look going on. What do you think?
